Hi all, according to my receipt I have just put 18.94 litres of petrol in my tank. Researching the interweb this would appear to be more than it could hold, and I wasn't even on reserve. Has anyone ever actually measured the tank capacity? Most web sites say its around 18.2 litres.

Cheers!

Re: 83 MHR Tank Capacity
no idea but if you got that much in there, and you had not reached reserve as you say, before you get overly confident on a very long ride I would get to at least that point again and look inside to make sure the reserve tubes are still in place. You can also run it low again, bike on side stand or have someone hold the bike tipped over and remove a fuel tap - you should see a filter tube but inside that there should also be a small diameter clear tube perhaps 3 or 4 cm long sticking up - that is your reserve point. I would bet that is missing.

Hi Steve. I suspect the pump was waaay out of calibration. I approached the supplier (BP) but they were not interested. I approached the service station staff, who gave me a refund!
I have filled it again since (elsewhere) and got a sensible uplift.
The petrol taps are both new - sourced from your good self.
