ignition spark

I have recently changed the wiring from underneath the flywheel of my 450 R/T and can't seem to get the motor started. There seems to be plenty of spark as that it has bit me a few times. The carb is brand new and it is getting gas. I have two petcocks on the tank and both are in the on position. Any help would be great because there is NO ONE in the Nashville, Tennessee area that will work on this Ducati. Not even the Ducati shop. I have all the original manuals.
