Are there any records available to know how many SS models went where ?

If you have a serial number of engine or frame can you get information from Ducati about the history of the bike?

By my count 6373 900SS Dukes were produced from 1975 to 1982. Somebody may have better numbers than mine. My understanding is that there are no factory records and thus no way to get information from the factory. Ian Falloon's books seem to be the best sources at present.

It should be noted that specifications varied from bike to bike and it is difficult to say what ancillary parts showed up on specific machines.
