Dellorto PHF

I seem to have early PHF carbs. The atomizer nuts were missing so I bought the ones available here. While there is a flat on the new nut my carb body has no corresponding flat.

How do I correctly orient the nut when I place it in the carb body?

Thanks!

Hi Jake, please be more specific, what saize wrench do you need to use on the float bowl nuts you bought? 14mm?

What size HOLE is in your float bowl?

I do not understand what you mean by your comment about flats lining up etc.. Can you post a photo or 2 so we can help figure this out?

Steve,

sorry for side-tracking this thread, but are you able to advise the starting point for the setting screws on the PHF carbs after rebuild?

PHF atomizer nut position

Here is a link to show the nut which presses into the carb body at the bottom of the throttle body venturi. http://shop.bevelheaven.com/detail.aspx?ID=1436

The atomizer threads into the bottom while the top hole in the atomizer nut atomizer recieves the needle....so the one hole remaining is on the side of the atomizer nut.

Which way should the side hole face when pressing the nut into the body?

A. Away from the motor (facing idle jet circuit)

or

B. Towards the motor

or

C. other

I hope this helps you help me and others replacing these nuts!

Thanks!

Jake I thought you were asking about float bowl nuts. - sorry. Call me at my shop tomorrow and I will dig out a carbie to compare, I have never seen a body without the flat for the notch in the atomizer nut.

Thanks Steve!

correction: idle circuit is "towards the motor"

I've studied my carbs and the Dellorto motorcycle tuning guide and I believe the hole must face the air intake (away from the motor) which aligns it with an air intake passage for air which "is mixed with metered fuel" from the atomizer and air from the intake.

I hope to confirm this deduction with you tomorrow

Ciao,

Jake

Thanks Steve!

It is confirmed that the hole in the atomizer nut faces the air intake!

If you don't know, then ask here...you will get the correct info and parts!

God bless,

Jake
