Hi, a 250 single owner here

Just got my uncle's old 250, poking around online and someone on another forum directed me here..... lots of good info!

Here's my 'new' Duc:

It runs fine, even after being stored in a garage for the last 27 years.

Only took m a half hour to get it rideable. Needs tires though, 40+ yr old rubber is seriously scary.

This is the bike that started it all for me, the first one I ever got a ride on when I was a little kid. I've owned many bikes, but never forgot this one. My uncle finally decided to let me have it as it was 'in the way'.

yeah, hope you can clean up / shine / polish that tank, it is very kewl.. I would advise you to take it to a local body shop that has been around for a LONG time familiar with laquer and get advice or better yet, as them to detail it for you so it doesn;t get ruined.

Unfortunately, the paint is toast on the tank. HEAVY cracking and checking. I'm going to see if it can be clearcoated to keep it from flaking off, and just keep it as a wall display. I do have the original stock tank.

yes take it to a body shop used to dealing with laquer...... They can clean it up as best as it can be and spray clear laquer over to perhaps salvage what is there. It will be impossible to spray a modern urethane clearcoat over the top.
