I have been looking for a sprocket carrier for my 79 Darmah for some time now. A few have come and gone on ebay, but its winter here in NH and I am in no rush to buy something that may not fit. My question is this: How do you tell the differance between the carriers? I notice some have small circles in the castings. Mine, (that doesnt seam to fit ) does not have these castings. The metal castings coming from thebearings out toward the sprocket are straight . Also my whole carrier slips inside the cush drive that is bolted to the wheel. I have noticed on other bikes it seems to butt up against the cush drive and actually overhang it, like the carrier diameter is greater than the diameter of the cush drive. My carrier diameter is smaller than the cush drive. I just want to be sure I buy the correct one. My bike has Campagnolo wheels.

I can't answer your question but there is a sprocket carrier on ebay that should fit your bike.

Mike there was a drive for Campagnolo wheel for sale on Fleebay , I dont know if its still going or not , do a search for it

Yep seeing as you have a campy wheel then a campy Cush is the only type that will fit - an FPS Cush fits an FPS wheel etc

When I switched from Speedlines to four bolt wire wheels, the sprocket carrier from the Speedlines was a direct fit to the new 4 bolt cush drive. Why would the situation be any different for Campys? I don't think you have the correct sprocket carrier but I can't speculate which model it came from. From my research when building my new wheels, most of the bevel twins used the same carrier.

Yes Bruce there are only 2 different sprocket carriors for bevel twins - disk brake type and drum brake type. But that isn't what we are talking about. We are talking about what the sprocket carrior rests inside of - the Cush hay wait a min I am the one confused here I thought you guys were talking about the Cush drive not the sprocket carrior- doh

Nope...we are talking about the sprocket carrier ( I am anyway!). I got the one off ebay, when it gets here I will take photos of the two side by side. I still dont know how my bike ended up w the wrong carrier on it...unless im wrong! If you turn the carrier over and leave the cush rubber in it, you can clearly see that the overall OD of the carrier sticks out past the edge of the rubber about 1/4 inch. Where as in the photos I have seen of the carrier which I believe to be correct for the bike , the OD of the carrier is about flush with the edge of the cush rubber.....

Hey Steve, i bought a set of spoked Ducati wheels from you. Thet did not come with the cush drive or sprocket carrier. I used the sprocket carrier from my speedlines. I'm getting ready to finish the project and I notice the real wheel is not turning freely. Do I need a different sprocket carrier or cush drive ?

Look four posts above this for the answer to your question. Something else is binding so you just have to play with it until you get it right.

Charlie, [and anyone else reading this]. The spoke wheel set you bought from me DID come with a cush drive, but did NOT come with the sprocket carrior [what the sprocket bolts onto].

Apparently the bearings pressed into the rear wheel, 1 of them was not pressed home, you fixed that. Still a bind, we discussed the 4 'jaws' and you now know that 1 of them is not as tall as the other 3 and that 1 goes inside on the brake side on your SS...........

Please advise how things work out once you verify that the jaws are in the right places etc....

Here is a link to pics of my sprocket carriers side by side. You can clearly see that the one that was on my bike when I bought it has a much larger diameter. I am still not sure if it is fitting correctly now. The new smaller diam carrier recesses into the cush housing while the old one butted up against it. With the new one fitted the spacers and bearings seem to bolt up bette Any idea what the old carrier went to ?

are you using the correct carrier for the osram wheel ?

what dimensions is the smaller hub

If my memory serves correct the larger carrier is from the spoke type drum brake wheels as used on the 750/860 models. I don't have any of my Bevels close by so I can't be sure though.

The wheels are Campys...not sure of the dimensions, havnt measured them.
