I have always been interested in bikes, could practically ride before I could walk ... one of the advantages of growing up on a farm. Anyway, I've got the opportunity to buy a 1979 SSD Daramah for $3000 AUD. It's in reasonable condition, but has a knock in the motor. I understand from other research that this is likely to be a big end, as that is a common problem ? I've been told that having a complete SS motor is quite rare? Is that true?

Could you advise as to whether this is a good buy or not? I don't know much about this particular model.

If I do buy it, I'd strip it down and do a complete resto (once I finish my other 3 resto jobs I have on the go ;-)

Cheers.

Buy it! If the bike is complete and all you need to do is strip it down and
rebuild it and add the cost of paint and tyres, it's a pretty good deal.
Of course, if you can negotiate due to the big end knock that would be best!

Good luck,
