Hello from sunny Queensland

Post by chaos »

Hello all,

My first post having just joined the forum a few hours ago. I have a 1980 MHR series 2 (steel tank, one piece fairing, no. 576) which I have owned for a few years now.
The bike was gifted to me by a good mate of mine from the UK and it followed me from the UK to New Zealand, where I lived for a few years and on to Queensland, where I am now.
I think it is probably the scruffiest Hailwood I have seen although mechanically sound it does need a few bits and pieces to be a original. Nothing major, it just looks like a bike that has been stored for a long time and shipped around the world alot.
I used to run the bike for my mate when I was back in the UK (he no longer rides) but have done nothing with it for the last few years (other than take it on holiday) but now intend to get it complete, road worthy and registered. Longer term plan is a complete nut and bolt restoration but in the mean time I am really keen to use the bike as I think it has a certain amount of charm in its current state. My biking history has been more biased towards big jap misiles and modern triumphs but I have been struggling to find inspiration to go and buy one of these so I think its time for the old bevel Ducati.
I will post some pics when I have sussed out how.
