Hello

I have just joined. I have had a 78 Darmah for many years and still enjoy it as much as when I first got it. Everyone agrees it is a magnificent machine, evne if it is a bit scruffy. When I got it was a wreck so I converted it to a Darmah SS. I have never found this bike very comfortable, but it is fast, it handles well, and it has been reliable. Hardly any other motorcycle sounds as good as this one. It has Dunstall exhausts with nothing inside.

The only problems it has ever had were with the clutch, the voltage regulator and the gear box. The gear box repaired it's self! It had a problem with the first gear engagement dogs, about 10 years ago, but after about a year the small dogs must have all broken off and now it is fine. It has about 60,000 miles now.

It has the 32mm carbs. They work really well. The engine doesn't really need to be reved more than 7000 RPMs though. My friend has a 900ss and it has noticably more top end. My engine has a fantastic range though.

I never use the electric starter it starts very easily by kick. (when it is warm I can start it with my hand)
