turn signals out - 900 gts

I apologize about the length of this post, but I wanted to make sure I covered everything that I thought might be important to know.
I have a 78’ 900 gts, the other day I took the bike out for an initial ride for this season, I had to use the kick starter to get the bike going… as after putting the battery on the charger for several hours it did not supply enough power to use the electric start, something normal for the battery that I have (had).
Took the bike out, noticed that my taillight had blown, I promptly replaced it, continued to only ride for about another mile or so when I noticed that my turn signals had gone as well. Parked the bike, all lights, even the lamps in the speedo and tach were blown with the exception of the dash indicator lights and the head light high beam.
I just replaced the battery, new head lamp, and tail light. Only one turn signal was blow so I replaced it and all the others. Now all replaced lights function except the turn signals……the bike runs great
So here I am, I checked the fuse box and all of the fuses are ok, since I have never had any problems like this before I am sure I am missing something, where or what should I check next to diagnose the problem.
Could a faulty battery and consequently the charging system cause this?
Thanks in advance for taking a look and any help you all may offer.

Get yourself a muiltimeter and stick the probes on the battery with the motor going, above 3000rpm it should read between 13 and 14 volts, much above this and the regultor is toast, muiltimeter sell for as low as $20 and its a simple test

Thanks Vince, I just tested it. seems that the charge is in fact at 17.75 at 3000 rpm - battery reads 13 before start.
so if the regulator is gone, where can I find one and is it possible that it also fried the turn signal relay or flash?

You lucked out, thats high enough to boil a battery,I am not up on Ducati
Regulators but the recommended replacement on Laverdas are Shindenco
{sp] off lots of mid range Kawaskis from a wreaker, have a look at the number of wires from the one you have and get one with a similar number, hopefully someone more sparky savvy will chime in,the green smoke in the wires scares me.

I ordered a new regulator from Steve ( thanks Steve) but it seems that this also blew my flasher relay for the turning indicators. I did not see any on the bevel heaven site....anyone know where to get a replacement?
thanks

so i found out that this relay is a rather common item...got one at the local auto parts store for $3.00 ..all is solved with the flasher. just waiting on the regulator. thanks
