I have read with interest the previous posts on replacing speedline wheels with FPS and nowwhere do I see any mention of FPS wheels being too wide to fit between the forks when the 4 bolt discs are in place. I have some 1979 FPS 6 bolt wheels and it looks like I need to machine 5 mm off the disc mounting face on each side before I can get the wheel to fit. I cant beleive I am the first one to come across this so has anybody out there done this before or have I got the wrong wheels :?:

I thought the off set of the 4 bolt disc was greater then that of the 6 bolt !!!

Hi Martin. the offset is greater so the old speedlines are narrower than the later FPS , hence the need to reduce the width of the FPS hub to accomodate the greater overall width.
