Hi,

my 83 ssd has PHM40 carbys on it & when the bike idles sometimes the revs go down and the motor "pops" & cuts out, have had it tuned so this is down to as minimum as possible & have been told the slides are too worn As is the "Carby" where the slide runs ? I agree with the slide wear but the "carby worn out" ?can the problem be rectified by simple slide replacement?? can`t find any specs so i can measure slide & bore with external/internal problem.

i have een sent carbs to rebuild, that the slides wre badly worn to the point where you can feel a difference in OD due to bouncing around for too long. Sticking my finger down in the slide bore in the carb, I felt the same thing........ the bore was noticeably worn. Carbs tossed, new carbs sold.
