Battery wire gauge

Post by Lost coast duc's »

Can any body help? I have a 1975 GT750 and I need to know what gauge of wire is needed from the battery to the fuse panel? Can you assist?

~M~, Is this for originality or function? There are some good books out there on scratch wiring. Welcome to the Forum, Jordan

If you are using the stock fuse block I think the original wire was 14ga. It won't really matter because the fuse block will probably melt on you anyway. When I wired my 750 I used 10ga. to the fuseblock and 12ga to the headlight. 14ga. to the rest of the bike. I also wired in a relay to eliminate running the headlight current thru the lightswitch. If you plan to use the bike at night rewiring is needed if you need to see where you are headed. Oh and keep the revs up too! The 150 watt alternator is pretty limp.
