????Easy fix To Boost light from H4????

Currently running a Bosch H4 headlight on '82 Pantah. It is woefully under powered to my likeing...Have been told 'just add a relay mate'...sounds to easy to be true

Any fixes to boosting power/brightness?

I doubt if you will notice a huge difference just by fitting a relay, UNLESS there is problem with the wiring / switch reducing the power available at the headlight, having said that, I would still fit a relay, as they are a good idea and will reduce the load on your switch/ dimmer contacts.

Also check the voltage of the H4 bulb, I was sold a bulb and didn't look at it untill I got home and then found it was 24 volt.

I've found H4s to be a good light, so I think there must be a problem somewhere.

Thanks for the prompt reply.... The switches are all new so no problems there. All conntacts are clean. Only thing I haven't done is check the voltage of the bulb. Took it out during the rebuild to make sure it wasn't blown and put it right back in again...will have a better look and maybe just replace the bugger for good measure.

Philips now make a 50% brighter bulb that I have just put into my car with remarkable improvement and I am pretty sure there is a H4 available. Well worth checking out at your nearest auto pro car accessory shop as they are on sale at the moment

regardless of the condition of the contacts in the switch it will always be better and last longer (the switch) if you wire in a relay. I wired in one on my 77 900SS with a direct (fused) wire to from the battery to the relay to cut out the voltage drop from battery to fuse block to ignition switch to fuse box to light switch to headlight; get the piture? :-) You may drop a volt or two easily in all those joints if the connections are not spotless; and they never are! It's simple to do and effective.
