Rotor Rust Dust

Rode to the Barber Vintage Festival last weekend, the bike sat out in the rain one night and the rotors rusted.
The first time you use the brakes a cloud of rust dust flies off and the result made for a cool pic I thought.



Was a good ride except for being caught in a slow crawl traffic jam on I-65 heading towards Nashville.
An air cooled, highly geared, kickstart Ducati can't cope with moving 6 feet at a time for long, I turned it off and pushed.

yes, that´s damn normal on those cast-iron brake discs...better don´t let them get wet ;-)

...and not sooo many curves on your way behind, he?....there´s a lot of space over that "roadrider" logo

keep on riding !,..... i am pretty sure, you´ve made a lot miles more than me this year, ...here i´ve made only about 2000 km this season on my MHR

Yeah, not many curvy roads in Iowa where you can lean it over, or on the Interstate for that matter!
I think that front Avon has over 12,000 miles on it now from the last 2 or 3 years, can see some cracks down in the treads.
My bikes are indoor temp controlled also, that hot and cold with humidity in a garage is really rough on bikes in my area.

Yes, here in northern germany, the humidity is also a problem for all fine things who can rot and rust !
..and ,..12000 miles on the front wheel is a lot !...You ride long distances , ( as i have read about here),with your fine Duc, my respect!!

Waking up and seeing that every morning would brighten my day! Do you have a really low watt bulb in the lamp with just the right glow for
the long cold winter mood lighting?

Yes. Mood lighting helps. A long time ago, my old 850 Commando was in the living room and the Ducati in the kitchen. The living room had sliding spot lamps so, of course, they were angled to highlight the bike leaning on it's loonnng sidestand. One of dumbest mistakes selling the Norton.

I agree, big mistake. Girlfriend has a 71 Commando that I like to tear around on.
They're a bit more common than MHR's so you could maybe find another.
