Mille S2 Oil Filter

Post by VinceGTS900 »

Can anyone tell me the part number or source for Mille oil filters. I ordered some from the UK but the screw on thread is the wrong diameter.

Thanks Steve, it is a 1985 Mille S2. I think mine has had the screw in the case changed to accept later filters. Investigating this weekend. I had a Mille filter and it has about a 17-18mm screw thread. The spigot on my engine is about 12mm and the filter I removed is taller than OEM one listed for the bike.
I will try to identify the filter that came off it.

yeah vince, if there is a manuf part number you should be able to get the spec on what it is for from your local supplier. I can;t imagine why anyone would change the filter type as ALL Ducati except for the dry clutch model I just mentioned, with a screw on type oil filter have used the same exact filter since the pantah engines to now. bevel drive of course are cartridge type and not what we are talking about...

G'day Vince,
The Mille S2 will have the same filter as all belt drive Dukes. The MHR Mille has the same engine and takes the belt filters. No change to fitting size as they came from the factory that way.
Exception was the earlier MHR 900 transition model as it had the odd filter.
You can get 2 different height filters and the Mille engine is a pain if you use the taller filter as it is obstructed by the carby.
The thread size is the same.
Just get a filter for a belt engine and it will fit.
Regards,
RAD

Thank you all.
So the filters I had were for the 900S2 dry clutch - hence the wrong year.
I have a spare filter for my MTS in the shed so that will go on this weekend.
I may get this Mille running in the coming week. Has been sleeping since 2000.

My 1985 MHrMille has a spigot that is M16x1.5.
Should I change the spigot to an other diameter?

My 1985 Mille has a 16x1.5 spigot.
I would like to change it to the later beltdrive thread.
Does the Pantah spigot fit?

I want the lower filter.
Cheaper filters and easier to find.
And as Steve says.
"Do you have a 1983/4 dry clutch? Yes those filters are different then ALL the other Ducati......."
I think that my 1985 Mille also have got this odd (M16x1.5)spigot.

Could you measure the thread next time you change the filter?

Is this the filter that you use...

If so, the thread is 3/4"-16UNF-2B
I bought a Pantah spigot but that one was M16x1.5 i both ends.

No, it doesn't fit, my spigot is M16x1.5 but the Mahle OC11 that I've got has a 3/4`-16UNF-2B thread.
See here.........
https://www.oljemagasinet.se/index.php? ... hle%20oc11

Or has Mahle OC11 got several different threads?

Do you know if yours is M16x1.5 or the 3/4`-16UNF-2B thread?

I bought this.......

Ebayitemnr:302337834959

With a little machining you can fit a 3/4 UNC filter such as the OC11.
I will take off the anodizing with 5 % of plumbing soda.
Hope this information is useful.

I've modified the spigot i bought.
And the Oc11 filter will now fit.
