testing stator and voltage reg. on 1978 900ss

does anybody know how to test stator and voltage reg. on 1978 900ss.I'm not getting a charge to my Battery.

Re you getting any voltage increase when running at all? With a multimeter connnected across the battery terminal (forgive me if this is something you're familiar with already) you should see a reading in the high 12Vs to mid-13Vs with the bike off, a small drop 0.5V ish when you tunr the ignition on, then of course upwards of 14V when running. If you see no voltage increase at all when running from the base ignition on reading first check you've got a good earth on the reg to frame (ask Steve why I know this), and of course check that you've got good connections between the all the terminal and the reg/ fuse block/ battery. And NEVER disconnect anything concerning the ignition when running! It'll damage the reg or gen.
