Hello to Bevel Lovers from Busselton Western Australia.
I have only recently been bitten by the bevel bug.
My first bike is Paul Smart Replica bought new in 2006. I loved it so much that I had to buy another Ducati but I wanted something slightly different.
I stumbled upon a 1991 VeeTwo Alchemy SV1 for sale in Melbourne Victoria. One thing led to another and my wife bought it for me sight unseen as a surprise 40th birthday present.
It has a 78/79 Darmah motor that has been converted to kick start only, Cerani Forks, Brembo Brakes, White Power Shock. I know a little of the history but would be interested to talk to anybody that knows anything about Alchemies as they are a little thin on the ground.
Maybe the Forum may look at the whole concept as a mongrel but a bevel is a bevel is a bevel especially as it barks through a single probably way to loud megaphone.
Thanks for reading and I will post some pics as soon as I work out how to do it.

Alchemy Images

Hi Steve,
I have followed your instructions with regards to the images above, I hope it has worked. What is the worst that can happen, I still have my health!!!
The engine number is 901139DM860, does anybody have a more exact year than my 1978/79 guess?
Bye for now.

Welcome to the Forum , great to see another Aussie
You know when they first came out I didnt like them as Brook'sie destroyed 80 odd Mille's for his Alchemy project and with only 140 odd imported to Australia and all he took was the Mille 1000cc engines so I guess one could say those that have a Mille in time will be laughing as they are fast becoming a rare breed
But near 20 years on and I must say it looks far better now than it did back then

Alchemy and Mille.
Hi Martin,
Thank you for your comments, I cannot deny or confirm the numbers you mentioned with regards to the donor bikes used for the VeeTwo Alchemy Project. I have been collecting as much information as I can about them but there very little available.
So far I have found examples of 10 bikes including mine-
Best-Ever Ducatis Magazine from 1994-6 Private Bikes 1 VeeTwo Demo.
Original Sales Brochure 1 Green Bike same as Magazine.
Period Ad 1 Blue Bike
Red Bike on Bevel Heaven Website USA Bike
Red Bike on Motalia Website Dutch Maybe?
Spuds Bike Australian (see picture included)
Out of all those 11 bikes there only seems to be one that is electric start.
Also in the main article in the 1994 magazine the quote is "of 45 kits or complete Alchemies that Vee Two has sold to date"
The build plate on my Alchemy is 1991, so for that period of 3 years only 45 bikes or kits were produced. Early this year on the New Zealand Trading Post a kit was offered for sale for $3500. So I would imagine of the total kits producted there would be a few that never actually made it on to the road, ran out of enthusiaism or money or both.
I asked a former VeeTwo employee of the time as to how many bikes and kits (SV1 and RV1) where produced, his guess was betwwen 80-90
until ptoduction on the Squalo began.
I guess I will have to get off my fat donkey and go and see Mr Henry to maybe look at any records he may have kept. He has semi-retired about 50km away.
I would be very interested in any information you have with regards to Alchemies
Well as far as looks go, even though beauty is in the eye of the beholder I must admit that some of the styling is a little awkward but then again some of the 80/90's was like that.
Check out Spuds Bike as another interpretation on a theme.
Thanks for your's and anybody else's time I have taken up.

Hi, I've just stumbled across your thread. I also am an Alchemy owner. I was an early customer who bought a bare metal frame kit and assembled it myself in early 1991 using an 860 which I already owned as the donor. Once I learned how to set it up properly it was a magnificent motorcycle and it certainly lived up to Brook Henry's design goals. Sadly it now sits in the corner of my shed without an engine as I decided to rebuild the 860. This was forced upon me by Queensland Transport as a result of a s**t fight over compliance and registration. Anyway here are some photos, not the best of quality but good enough

Guys, this is VERY interesting stuff . May I propose that one of you start an ALCHEMY thread in the BEVEL TWINS PHOTO GALLERY and move these posts over there? I think it will get more attention and it certainly would be appropriate to do so. THANK YOU

New Alchemy SV1
Hi Alchemy, your bike looks fantastic.
I own an unbuilt Alchemy SV1 frame, with bodywork and whitepower shock. I bought the frame/bodywork kit in 1995, so they were making them at least up until then. My frame doesn't have a 'Build Plate' but does have a frame number.
It is a sad day but I recently decided that I had to sell the Alchemy kit. If anyone is interested in a unique opportunity to buy what is in effect a 'New' Alchemy SV1 kit, it is likely to be posted on EBay in the next few days.
If Alchemy would like to get in touch, I might have a couple of magazines which featured the bikes between about 1993 - 1999. The most notable was 'Streetbike' magazine who built their own beautiful example with a gorgeous paint job. Every issue they provided updates on the build until complete and then they gave it away in a competition.
If I find the magazine and a bit of time, I'll see if I can post a couple of photos.
Seeya,
Ian

Hi Red Dirt Rider.
It is good to hear from another Alchemy lover, it is a shame that you are unable to build your kit.
Did you have that great motor on Ebay recently that was to be used for an Alchemy build? Did you end up selling?
I would be very interested in any Alchemy information as I am trying to collect as much as possible.
Best of luck selling your kit, it will be interesting to see where it ends up.
Brian.

Hi Brian,
I have contacted Brook Henry and he has confirmed that 100 kits were built, with the last one produced in 1998.
No unfortunately it was not me, if I had the motor then I would have probably finished the build by now as I have pretty much all the running gear sitting around: GSXR750 Upside down forks, 6 piston calipers, handlebars, rims etc. I was just missing an appropriate engine.
I'll let you know when I post on EBay and how it goes.
Ian

Hi Ian.
How weird is this, you are about to put a new Alchemy kit on Ebay and another guy from Canberra going by "synergybusiness" is also looking at listing a kit. He is the owner of a damn good looking 860 motor a result of a large donation to Vee Two hence the buy it now price of $15k. On the original Ebay listing a guy called Craig made contact with the seller interested in the kit and gave a mobile number of 0434 460771 you may or may not be interested.
The only other kit I have seen is in New Zealand last year for $3500.00.
But I see the Alchemy that Steve had on Bevel Heaven classifieds has sold.
If you ever find those magazines with the Alchemy articles I would definately be interested in taking them off your hands. The bike that I have was included in Best Ever Ducatis 1992 (I think) so with so few made the more information the better.
Thanks Ian keep in touch.
