Crankshaft preload- how much

I sat the endfloat to nil and no preload for about 10.000 km ago at my crankshaft, but now there seems to be a little endfloat.
Using a dial indikator I can measure around 0,01-0,02mm.
Is that acceptable or should i do something about it ?
Best regards Per

They need some preload, more feel than measurement though.

I try to shoot for about .004" or a slight drag on the crank when turned. It will fall slowly and smoothly when the counterweights are about 90deg. from vertical. As Dave said it is kind of a feel operation.

That's the ultimate test I use too.

I set one once to what I calculated as zero and after about 15,000 k`s it developed endfloat again. The next one I did I aimed for .002" preload and that has been fine.

Thanks for the advises,
Then i think i will adjust the preload to 0,03 -0,05 mm and thereafter check that the crankshaft can rotate by its own weight as described.
