Scarab Caliper pads to disk problem

Hi all,
I’ve been slowly rebuilding a 73 Ducati 750 Gt.

The problem is this…
I have a Scarab brake system up front ; Master cylinder, disk and caliper.. all been made good like new..
However when you look down the back of the caliper to where the pads are visible, you can see that the top 5mm of the pad material is not on the disk. It’s actually proud of the disk. (pads in photo are old ones , new pads are exactly the same..)
In fact the pistons in the caliper seem to be slightly off the edge of the disk!
This doesn’t seem right at all.

The disk is a full 280mm solid disk. It almost looks like it need a bigger disk , but it would interfere with the caliper edge. It’s close already, see the second photo.
The caliper can only be mounted one way, so I’m a bit perplexed as to why the pads are not covering the disk.
The stainless pins you see are my own making … the split pins looked a bit basic..

I’ve enclosed a couple of photos that show the problem.

Any ideas appreciated

Cheers all

Hi Steve
Yep, I think I will …. Still don’t look right.
I had an idea that that caliper might be a better fit for the 229mm rear disk found on an SS.

Here a before and after for the bike… just need to paint tank and side covers … but looking pretty good at the mo.

Cheers and thx for the info.
