1973 750 Sport headlight bowl.
Hello Stephen, The first reaction ever received to my request after so many months is yours. To make a joke out of it, how many holes your bent bowl has, 3 or 3+1? (LOL) :-). If it has 3 is like the one I already have (in good condition). If it has 3+1 it is the one I'm looking for, so let me know i...

Ignition stator for 1978 900 GTS and seat cover.
Hi,
Try www.desmo-ducati.de/shop/ and click on spare parts. The seat cover is there and ask Andreas if he can supply you with an ignition stator. See his price list, if there is a price next to the part number, then the part exists.
Cheers
Nico

Hello Peter, First of all I did not condemn any of the earlier tyre brands mentioned, some of which I have tried and some of which not. I just wondered how come and nobody mentioned Michelin, for good or for bad. Second, it is totally unfair to condemn one of the most avant garde tyre companies arou...

Gentlemen, How come and none of you mentioned Michelin Macadam 50 tyres? I have them not only on my bevels, among them a Darmah SS, but also on my 1982 BMW R100RS, which was transformed to a stable bike, when I changed from Metzelers to Michelins. Also the tail happy Moto Guzzi 850 LeMans I used to ...

What bike did this engine come from?
Hello Colin, Bosch ingnition desmo engines with 32 mm Dell'Ortos (not 30 as you state) were go-slower versions of bikes produced with 40 mm Dell'Ortos. Ducati did this in order to pass ever stricter European noise and emission controls. Usually all these bikes were combined with quite (and ugly) Laf...

Hello Jim, Thks yr reply, with which I fully agree. Still I feel obliged to inform you of the following: besides the front Speedline which was broken on my bike almost two decades ago, I also have now available about 4 or 5 Speedline wheels which are in sound condition like the one that Miller sold ...

Hi Phil, On a moving vehicle you have two kind of weights: sprung and unsprung weights. On a motorcycle, sprung weight is you the rider, engine, frame, fuel tank, while unsprung weight is wheels, brakes, mudguards (as long as they move with the wheels), lower (moving) part of front forks/rear shocks...

Hello at suncoast motors, I'm currently restoring an early (1978) SSD and I would like to inform as follows: 900 SSD were an upmarket model compared to the regular Darmah SD. To this respect all 900SSDs without exception featured initially 6-holed Speedlines in combination with Lafranconi silencers ...

Recollections from my 350SD ownership.
Hello guys, I had bought my canary yellow 350SD almost new (2Kklms on the clock) back in 1980. It was my first real bike with clip-ons/rear sets. I kept if for 5 years during which I covered 35Kklms and in 1982 I also had the audacity to ride outside of my home country Greece, to Italy and to (then)...

Ivan, I checked my NOS Aprilia headlight bowl and you are right: it is satine or smooth low gloss black as you described it and not crinkled black as I had written (probably I was confused with the Bosch headlight bowl of a 900SSD I'm restoring presently). However I cheched in the usual sources (Fal...

best gearing for '78 900SS w/40 PHM, stock rim/tires.
Hi Robert, You are right that MHR were longer geared than 40 PHM 900SS, but the main reason that Ducati decided so, were the ever stricter legislations of the times towards noise reduction. In fact SS derived 900 MHR were slower in acceleration terms than 900SS exactly because they were overgeared. ...
