red hot conti

Hi
My 76 900ss the exhaust pipe at the rear cylinder now glows red hot even at warm up . Is this likely to be ignition timing or carb issues or something else? Any suggestions appreciated

Thanks Craig

Good to know that the 32's are better low down. I may look at changing over to see how it goes, as can do without the top end

My bike doesn't idle smoothly until the engine is warmed up and even then sometimes doesn't remain at a constant idle speed even when it is warmed up.

Starts ...

40's versus 32's

My '76 900ss has the PHM 40 carbs fitted with Conti's. I also have the orig PHF 32's .

Why isnt there a choke for the PHM 40's?

Do the smaller PHF 32 Dell"Orto's idle better than the 40 PHM's

Is there much loss of power compared to the PHM 40's. Do most owners use the larger or small carbs

Bike ...

Re: Carb Synchronizers, Carby Tuners and Vacuume Guages

Hi

was wondering if you traced the problem for this - I am having same issues now on my 74 GT750 - starts easy, idles and rides away nicely on choke, idles without choke smoothly, but once the revs pick up it backfires and spits along.

I have bought a dellorto re-build kit & rubber manifolds from ...

thanks

many thanks to all for the input - gotta try something as my brain is overloaded using a right hand race shift pattern gear change without learning to use a rear brake at the same time

love these engines though.

cheers

Hi

My 1974 GT with Scarab brakes is in need of fixing / junking

If I use a Brembo or Lockheed master cylinder will this be compatible ( and a big improvement) over the current crap set-up? Would a reconditioned Scarab master cylinder improve things. Or is going to Brembo disks, calipers, and ...
