I have found pushing a broom handle up te centre of the fork tube to press damper rod against the end of the stanchion works most times.
cheers

Polish or not to Polish
Have my bike ready for rego and just tidying up last little things.
Unsure on the finish of the side covers (clutch, alternator, front sprocket)?
Brochure shows them as unpolished, but has satin finish on exhaust too so maybe dulled down to stop reflection in photos?
In Falloon's book the ducati ...

Stripped it this am; Crank to primary gear key sheared in half, obviously not tensioned up correctly on last assembly.
Luckily shaft and inner bore primary gear are still serviceable.
Strange bit is that I took it for a lap around the block to check for unusual noises, wheeled it into the shed and ...

Stupi question - Sprag bearing?
Went to start up my bike after finishing the wiring.
The starter is turning but motor is not so I figure sprag bearing?
Puzzling bits (to me):
If I put it in gear it will turn the back wheel with starter.
If I turn the back wheel in gear it looks like the flywheel turns through starter chain ...

Hi Darren, if you want to go with cartridge emulators (as per Vargas1 post) try Steve Wood of Suspension Improvements in Slacks Creek.
That i swhere I got the parts for mine (in my S2 tidy up thread in Bevel pictures), he will also do the whole job for you if you want.
My S2 is not on the road yet ...

Have pulled horizontal head off for a look, no sign of media in oil gallery or cylinder (there doesn't seem to be a smiley for relief).
Other than put on the exhausts I haven't done much else to the S2 as the fun vouchers got distracted badly again.

The head faces should be pulled down tight enough to stop media entry, o ring is to stop oil seaping?
