that's an early motor - no clutch adjustment access & only 5-fins on the sump.....

Wonder if it's something from the factory for shows, etc. Or perhaps a dealer with a wrecked bike and a long, unoccupied winter?

How about this RR Merlin engine at the National Air Force Museum of Canada which has bevel drive camshaft coolness?

And check this out - another example of a bevel drive vee design being modified to use belt drive.
