bosch ignition pickup tool Q

Post by BevHevSteve »

http://www.bevelheaven.com/misc/ign/

I have uploaded some photos of the BOSCH ign tool. I just got one and the rotor is loose so it rotates around. I would like to adjust it correctly so that I can check the pickups on several of my bosch ign bikes....

I would appreciate it if someone can look at what I have then look at yours and perhaps enlighten me as to where the rotor should be specifically. Maybe provide some key measurments??

I talked to Steve Wynne about it a couple years ago so yes. Also, I now have 2 of the tools. I also have a half dozen darmahs to check the tool against. Am all ears though to hear what you have to say on the subject.

Yes that seems to be the only way, once you've got a tool that you know is correct you can set the pickups then set your unknown tool to that,I borrowed one from mdina that was made by Mr Brancato to set mine, and then made one for myself, his cannot be adjusted so theres no chance of it moving.

Steve,I'd check the loose one against the best running of the Darmahs you have available and set it to match the pickups. My friend Mike Duzick[Mikmar] set the pickups on my Darmah and I made a tool to match the positions of the pickups.Once that is done you need to follow the cardinal rule of all mechanics,Like drill bits,NO ONE uses it but YOU!

Does anyone have a drawing of the setting tool or just the coordinates for the tool?
I also wonder if it is possible to use the 900 pickup mountingplate on the Mille?
Part 15.........

Instead of part 22........

Hi Hedton: You can rent one if you are in Australia but otherwise it's a very expensive, one-time tool. I've read about some guys making their own, precise crankshaft rings; this would help set the air gap but not the pick up position. I went the Sacshe route; a little expensive but very easy to install and set-up. Good luck.

Yep, same here & I agree completely. Real easy to set up, allows real easy starting and a lovely smooth ignition curve with no sudden jumps in advance. Choice of curves too.
