Ha! I bought a blue 860GTS back in 1976, It was my first ever new bike off a showroom floor. The showroom in question was HGB Motorcycles in London, often referred to as GBH (Grievous Bodily Harm) motorcycles as a nod to their customer relations policy...
It took me on several trans-continental journeys as well as to work every day, except the days when the ignition failed or when I was replacing the big end bearings. Having a somewhat flat learning curve I graduated to a '75 900ss which I've still got and regularly campaign in the MotoGiro D'Italia.
The GTS was a brilliant bike on a good day, tearing down French N roads to the sun, let us know how you get on with restoring/rebuilding yours.
