Hi all
Just bought 1981 MHR reg UNM510W.
Has been off road for 17 years but starts and so far runs well.
There is absolutely no history at all, seems to have been a shop display bike; many people must have cherished this bike, has anyone here owned it or can tell me about it?
I hope to refurbish as necessary so can be a sunday aftrrnoon bike.
Regards
Alan

Hi Alan:

I've been absent from forums for a while. Welcome to the group.

My bike is UNM766W. There was a rush to register bikes in the UK by the end of March 81 to avoid a jump in fees so there are a bunch of 81 MHRs with UNM plates, I think, all from Coburn and Hughes.

Good luck

Welcome Alan. Not sure about a MHR being a Sunday afternoon bike :? , but each to their own ...

(81mhr900ss: That's a curious tidbit of info re. pre-March '81 bikes in the UK ... insert thumbs up smilie here).

Craig
Bike has only done 60 miles in 16 years(2007 last mot) and was a display bkke. Steel city classics in Chesterfield did most of re Commission and I've finished it.
Am testing its reliabillity at moment and seems good.
Only issue for me is when finish ride( or heaven forbid it was to stall) getting off bike to put on stand is very precarious as high seat to get leg over and clip ons means a little unbalanced and see it as accident awaiting..
I see a number of workshops are advertising side stands, has anyone fitted one and do they work with fill fairing??
