Monza 4-speed versus 5-speed

Post by Mayday1965 »

HELP me please. I am rebuilding a 1965 Monza 250 and during tear down, I noticed it has a 5 speed transmission, however, I read today that was only available in the Diana model. The serial number look up clearly says it is a Monza...

Steve, anyone, can you help me understand/get straight on it.

Mayday

welcome in DucatiWonderLand.
The serial number look up CLEARLY stated ??
You mean like : info that came from Bologna ? where a lot of parts were mixed and matched ?
As long as the gearbox is working and correctly shimmed, enjoy it.
Nothing visible from the outside :-D

According to Ian Falloon, from 1965 on, all Monzas had 5-speed boxes.

So nothing to be surprised about ... :)
