Pantah 500 SL restoration

Post by ludiluka »

Hello,

Here is my recently aquired bike. Still figuring out if all fairings are stock. I'm a bit confuseed about seat fairing and the seat. Also there is red paint under black on the frame. I don't know if ducati used some sort of red primer because there is also red paint under gold on the wheels and i'm sure that wheels are stock. According to the frame number it's pantah 500SL according to the engine number it's pantah 350 so i suspect that engine was changed in the past. Weird thing is that everything looks OEM also there is no evidence on the bolt's and nut's that bike was ever apart.

Maybe we've "met" through another MM canal, but this is a 79 Pantah 500. You say the framenumeber indicates it's a 350 ? How did You come to this ?
Rims (clear edge), tank (screw-cap on top AND bgger than later tanks), seat (glassfiber with detachable cover with 2 screws on top) are the marks of the 79.Framenumber should be 660xxx , highest I've seen was just over 6601xx. Enginenumber also 660xxx but they did produce more engines, probably for backup. Keep it, think there's only a handful of those left on the planet. I've seen more genuine 74 SSs than 79 Pantahs. If You need more info on the enigen (there are some differnces too) let me know. If it's the bike that was for sale in Italy and went down under, we're allready "on the same page".

Hello,

Sorry for late replay. Yes bike looks like all original except the engine. Looks like somebody swapped engine for 350cc according to the engine number. Yes i bought the bike in italy. Im in process of restoring it and i can not find the windscreen. So if somebody has windscreen for sale please send PM
