Not really sure where to post this so I`ll put in under chassis. And not sure if I`m being paranoid but maybe someone can shed some light on this.

This is a link to eBay where a guy from the Netherlands is selling a "star"stamp. As in the one used on Ducati frame or engine numbers. (can't remember which) While letter and number stamps are readily available these star stamps are`nt. What legitimate purpose could there be to purchase one of these stamps except to re-birth a frame? Am I missing something? I know you can buy after market frames at various websites and maybe you need to number them for registration and licensing purposes but would`nt marking it with a star stamp be sort of counterfeiting? Am I missing the point here??

Re: Star stamp
Found those for a lot less money on several mostra scambio in Italy.
Usually from eastern europe sellers.
Aftermarket frames are available and could be replicated.
I found that the welder at Verlicchi couldn't quite finish a particular weld and had a little fault in it, talking about S and SS frames.
The replicas are just TOO perfect
