Marzocchi damping rod Race Tech emulator

Post by Blackandgold »

Any help most welcome!

I’m fitting Race Tech emulators to my front shocks and wanted to check something as there was no specific instructions for my bikes year. Thanks so much in advance!

1982 900ss Ducati

I had taken off the standard piston rings and fitted the emulator, but there seems to be a lot of play where the race tech spacer is. Please see pics.

There doesn’t appear to be a replacement piston ring. Should I go ahead with this and just use the standard ones? And does it matter if that spacer floats up and down…

Cheers!

I did this modification about a year back on an 860GTS with Marzocchi forks but mine were assembled differently.
The piston on mine was pressed onto the top of the rod.
Basically all I did to mine was remove the piston and machine the centre out and sit the emulator on top of the piston. The rod did not protrude through the piston as with yours. And if memory serves, and it often doesn’t, the piston ring was at the bottom of the piston.
