Adjust chain Darmah

Post by Tryzub »

1980 Darmah

Any simple directions on adjusting the chain? I took off the rubber caps, loosened the two bolts and used the special tool to turn the cam inside the swingarm. But no matter which way I turn the cam, it tightens to a certain point then loosens. The cam is on both sides of the bike, does it matter which one you adjust? Do you adjust both sides? Thanks.

What do you mean by, "it tightens to a certain point then loosens". What loosens?

Do you mean that you can rotate the cam to a point where the chain goes tight, and then if you continue to turn the cam, the chain goes loose again?

If so, that's in the nature of a cam. It's what a cam does!

It also indicates to me that your chain is worn to its limits and needs replacing. (It's best practice to change both the chain plus both sprockets at the same time, btw).

Thanks for the reply. Never said I was very smart. I think I now understand how this works, sometimes just takes me a while.
