Peter,

I meant to comment on this when I saw it shortly after you posted it, but I was so in awe that I ended up watching it through a few times.

Thanks for posting this. I just love watching Hailwood ride. So smooth. In the face of greater straight line power he made up yards under braking and through corners every time (even the hairpin!!!).

Brilliant!

Yep, me too - I see new things each time I watch it. The way Mike sets up the young John Cowie to make the mistake which lets him get past is a classic demonstration of how a slower bike in experienced hands can get beat a quicker one.

And his quick turn in the hairpin! Boy! I've ridden Mallory and wish I could do that!

Also, always good to see Read getting beat! (See, I remember those days, and all Read's bullshit ...)

Indeed nice video, but not so rare.
I bought a copy from Steve in the mid eighties and ran it over and over again at meetings :-)
Now my videoplayer has retired and the video is on "static display", together with the book "A day to remember in the life of Mike Hailwood".
Luckily there's joe-tjoep now :-)
