WORLD MOTORCYCLE CONCOURS TO DEBUT;
CALL FOR ENTRIES ANNOUNCED

“Legend of the Motorcycle™: International Concours d’Elegance”

Announcing the world’s first concours d’elegance, encompassing a century of style, design and ingenuity, exclusively for motorcycles.

Representing motorcycling’s past, present and future, Legend of the Motorcycle is a landmark event centered around the concours d’elegance - an exhibition of 200 motorcycles covering nearly 100 years of history, judged by an international panel of experts. The inaugural event’s featured marques will be Crocker and Brough Superior.

An open call-for-entries is being issued in conjunction with the news of the event’s debut. The selection committee will be searching for only the best in rare, unique, exceptionally preserved, and accurately restored running machines. The deadline for entries is November 30th.

In addition to the standard class awards, there will be special category awards such as the exclusively licensed Steve McQueen™ Award selected by a panel of celebrities, the Industry Award selected by executives of major motorcycle companies, and the People’s Choice Award that Gov. Schwarzenegger has been invited to confer. Trophies presented are bronze statues custom-created by renowned sculptor Jeff Decker of Hippodrome Studio.

Other features of this first annual charitable event include the Field of Fame™ display – bikes owned by past celebrities such as Elvis and James Dean, the Hall of Fame Museum display – pedigree bikes ridden by racing legends, and the Concept Bikes display – a showcase of conceptual and prototype models from international manufacturers and individual collectors, to name but a few.

“Legend of the Motorcycle is a celebration of the art of motorcycling. It pays homage to the rich heritage, innovation, beauty and lifestyle the motorcycle imbues”, says founder Jared Zaugg. “The collaboration on this has been incredible”, he continues. “Involved are some extraordinary people including the co-curators of the Guggenheim’s record-breaking exhibit ‘The Art of the Motorcycle’, the Chief Judge of the Louis Vuitton Classic, and the Chief Judge of the Pebble Beach Concours, not to mention others.”

Established to create a forum for motorcycling on a level only previously associated with fine automobiles, Legend of the Motorcycle is, in the words of Zaugg, poised to become the finest annual platform for motorcycling heritage since the advent of the motorcycle.

The lawns atop the rugged Pacific Ocean at the Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay, California will play host to this premier event on May 6th, 2006. Half Moon Bay is a scenic 30-mile drive south of San Francisco in a spectacular setting of ocean and mountains.

For detailed information about the event and submitting a pre-1976 bike of any marque for consideration in the concours, visit the website at http://www.LegendoftheMotorcycle.com.

Questions may be directed to [email protected] or 415-673-7980.

NOTE - I will be there with my 1974 750GT. The event should be a great place to see all kinds of esoteric old bikes from around the globe. Mark your calenders and try to stop by...
