Glemseck Cafe racer sprint

Post by crankcase »

Went to what is turning into a cult event near Stuttgart before last weekend.
There is a one on one sprint event for air cooled bikes with 32 entrants (choosen from 120 applicants!) and an invite only sprint for whoever they feel worthy on Saturday.
Then on Sunday there's a junior sprint up to 25 years old and a 50cc sprint for bikes older than 1985.
All on a stretch of public road which used to be part of the old Solitude Grand Prix circuit.
Apart from that lots of cool stands and great stage shows on Friday and Saturday nights including a pin up girl contest !
I will definitely be going back, and armed ! Plans are to strip the DB2 of its fibreglass to make a 'cafe' out of it. And enter the Gitan as it is in the 50cc with minimum preparation- gas in tank, pump up the tires . .

We finally got round to posting a picture gallery on the website:
Glemseck 101 cafe racer sprinting motorcycle touring holiday

A totally brilliant weekend, rounding off a brilliant touring week, first visiting a couple of local bike museums, one is the biggest Vincent museum in the world- entrance only by appointment, Kurt is a brilliant bloke though and agreed at a couple of hours notice : )
Then a quaint little motorcycle museum in the Odenwald countryside before going on to one of the biggest at Sinsheim.
The Mulhouse 'Bugatti' museum in France and back over to meet an old college who now designs for Porsche, at . . the Porsche museum of course.

Finally getting to Glemseck

3rd place in the international sprints, ex GP racer- I think she's the only woman ever to score points in a GP . . can that be right ?

Love the oil cooler on this Egli Kawasaki.

A Moto Guzzi Le mans up against a Triton in an extra Italian/British sprint on Sunday afternoon- the Triton beat the lot, it was the only one pulling wheelies.

there's a load more pictures on the website if you're interested.
