Dave P's 900ss Shed find project.

Post by davep981 »

As suggested by Steve, here are some pics of the 900ss I have just purchased. As you can see its not bad, pretty rusty down one side and seized solid due to rusty horizontal cylinder. But all there.

Now I am not sure about the pics, but this is my first attempt!

Wow, fantastic - many congratulations. :-D :-D :-D

My 900 Replica had the front cylinder seized in place - we soaked in diesel and other material - tried heat but eventually had to admit defeat and cut it off (arghhhhh). :( :( :(

Fingers crossed you can shift yours....I recall there is a gap in the barrel to head and cases joint that allows moisture into the studs and the alloy stud had furred up with white rust and seized solid into the head.

Your bike looks lovely a great find.

So, what are your plans for her?

Stuart

Thanks for that, well the cylinder is now off and the motor apart. It will need new pistons and a rebore obviously, maybe new liner but not too bad at all. The photo flatters the bike a bit , the other side was more exposed to the elements and has suffered accordingly! However the plan is to rebuild back to standard, the timescale well we will see, but the paint is away, the chassis is being powdercoated and I have dropped a crate of bits at the chromers. So we have begun!
I will post more pics when I understand Steve's instructions, or get the kids to translate!
Thanks for your interest.

Dave
