Removing spokes from front hub - 750 Gt

Post by Dukaccino »

Hi all
Just cut the spokes out of my wheels.
The rims are shot.
The spokes came out of the rear hub easy enough, but front are a different story.

Front spokes are dead straight and a good length is held in the hub.
Now, mine are stuck in there. Very hard to remove.
I’ve hit them with hammer , but no go.
I guess is that the steel fused a bit with the Ali…!

Is there some secret method to getting these out??

Any help appreciated

Apply a bit of heat perhaps. If you have heat gun, hold it nice and close to the alloy next to the spoke. When the ally is to hot to touch tap the end of the spoke with a hammer. If your not re-using the spokes cut them fairly short so you can tap the a little harder.

Okidoki
I’ll give it a go…. Sounds reasonable.
Spoke are already cut nice and short.
