Hi Ducadini,

I just noticed this post in my wanderings.

You say that the original 860GT hub was drilled for 36 spokes with drum brake, and 40 for disc.

I counted my 860GT bike's (s/n 851539) front wheel and rear wheel spoke holes twice, and both the front and the rear hubs have 40 holes, and that's with a front disc and with a drum rear brake from the factory.

Since I bought this bike new, I wonder if it was somehow bastardized at the factory.

Go figure.

My error, indeed it has got a 40 spoke rear wheel.
Must've mistaken it for a 350-500 GTL wheel.
Or just brainfade, or my four girls driving my crazy.

Again my sincerest apologies for this mistake.

Sure hope You did orde the correct one ?

ciao

Hi Ducadini,

No harm; I appreciate the info, and am grateful that I counted correctly.

I haven't ordered yet, as I am awaiting a reply from Buchanan having asked for pics of the finish on the Excels, with and without polishing.

I am still trying to decide on anodizing or not, but Buchanan may not do the clear anodizing, in which case I shall do without.

Regards,
Richard
