Best tires for 1974 750 Sport? Engine case color? Carbs?

Post by wendell »

Any experience with tires for the '74 750 Sport? Pirelli Demons, Avon AM26, Continental TKV, Metzler Lasertec, all available at similar prices. What is the best tire?

What tire size is best for this bike? Currently has 100-90-19 front, and 120-90-18 rear.

Has anyone tried 36mm or 40mm carbs on the bike?

Most photos I see show the engine cases and cam towers painted black, but my '74 has bare cases and towers. What is correct for this year?

Thanks

Correct tire size 750 Sport

Post by wendell »

OK, so I've never blogged before, just figuring it out. Now I see most answers are on previous posts regarding 900SS "Avon Super Venoms". Either Avon AM26 or Conti TKV are best for my bike.

Faloon says tire size is 3.25H19 front, 3.50H18 rear. Given size availability, should I use a 90/90-19, 100/90-19, or a 3.25-19 front, and 4.00-18, 110/90-18 or 120/90-18 rear? Currently, this bike has 100/90-19 and a 120/90-18 on the original Borannis.

I know its another debate but: 50w or multigrade. I am in Northeast, US - 3 season riding.

hey wendell
did you get that part yet
oil-i always use 25w50-if you use straight 50,make sure you warm it up properly
the only sports i've seen with black side covers etc were 73's so i think polished is right for your bike

cheers steve
