1974 750 GT Speedo removal

Post by gt94stang »

Hey Guys,

I want to send my Speedo out for a rebuild. Problem is, I can't figure out how to get it out of the plastic dash. First off, the trip reset knob won't come off and with the speedo in the dash, I have no way of getting anything tool wise in there to help. It just spins instead of unscrewing. Secondly, I thought the back of the dash would come off, but I can't seem to figure out how to get that off either. Maybe the top comes off instead?

Thanks,
Rob

Take a peek at this: https://www.ducaticlassics.com/parts/75 ... ard-750-gt

It looks like the top and bottom plastic parts of the dash have to be separated to access the metal rings that support the clocks and their locking nuts. The clocks can then get pushed through the top plastic cover and removed. On the same site look at the speedo knob part picture. it looks like it may be a push fit; I can't tell from the detailed part picture if there is a threaded section or not.

Good luck.
