81 MHR Ducati regulator question for experts!

Post by 81mhr900ss »

What is the role of the Brown connection? The two yellows feed from the alternator, the battery -ve connects to the body of the regulator via one of the frame bolts and the red connects to the 25A fuse as does the +ve battery terminal. The two 8A fuses and the brown wire are fed from the ignition switch so the brown connection must be a 12V switched feed to the regulator. Why?

Got an answer; the older regulators require a switched 12v for a reference voltage. My new Shendingen one does not.
