Using LED's To Replace Dashboard Warning Lights
There has been a bit of discussion on the bevelheads list lately about
the issue of using LED's to replace dash warning lights.
To search the bevelheads list for the topic directly use the phrase:
"LED's and diodes"
It seems that the idea is fairly common and has been done by quite
a few owners however what are the best components to use and what
are the correct procedures for making this modification?
It was suggested that Rapid Electronics (UK) carry 5mm diam.
multicolour LED's red/yellow for 0.11 pence each.
You can download their product catlledog here.
Another suggestion was to use mini 12 volt lights with thinner
multi-strand wires that are apparently less prone to breakage.
Are there other advantages that haven't been brought up directly such
as reduced drain on batteries?
Tell us about your experiences with this topic. I for one want to know
as much as you can share as I prepare to dive into my next project.
BTW, isn't this new forum cool?
