Donor Bike to make F1 750 Replica?

Post by Rossco27 »

I heard of a guy in the UK who was using monsters as a donor bike to put all the running gear into a F1 frame?

Just wanted to know if you know....I want to make a 750 f1 replica (or rather lookalike ncr endurance racer). Do F1 fairings fit onto a 750ss 2000 frame (for example). Are monsters more suited?

Ideally i can find a used F3 minus motor and start from there, if not retro fit a donor bike to make it happen....

any thoughts?? cheers Ross

The F1 fairings have been fitted to later SS's but the tanks used were still SS tanks. The result is very good looking so go for it.You will have to fab the brackets to mount everything but it's not that hard.If you somehow find an F1 the tank will have to be modified to clear the induction bits for the vert. cyl. as the intake and exhaust are reversed on the later engines.

I'm not sure about the F1 frames but I tried to fit a Monster engine in my old Pantah frame and this would only work if I cut off the lower engine mounts (frame).
The swingarm of a monster is a bit wider and wouldn't clear the frame.
Fitting a Pantah swingarm in monster-engine isn't a straight job either.

IIRC the swingarm setup of a F1 is about the same as the earlier Pantah.
