SD900 Starter Sprocket

Post by ducksandhogs »

Any one got a "spare" starter motor sprocket (11 tooth) and /or chain in good order for sale? Or know where I can get one?
cheers

Giovanni has at least part of what you need...

He used to have the 11 tooth sprocket as well. I know because I bought one off him, but that was probably 3 years ago.

Yeah, cheers for that Kev. Had already seen this site and was put off by the picture of the 15T sprocket. I've emailed him now anyway. BUT, the question is I guess ,will the 15T do the job? I'm not familiar with the Darmah/electric legs, so have no idea if the Marrelli motor struggles as it is with an 11T.

An SD with good compression gives the Marrelli (and the battery) a decent workout as it is. You really want the 11 tooth to ensure the gearing is right, and 11/21 is a fair way from 15/21.

Besides which, a 38 link chain will be too short with a 15 tooth gear, so you'd have to find a longer chain anyway. I'd ping Giovanni with an email and see if he has an 11 tooth that fell down the back of the sofa. ;)

I've got two electric start setups buried in the garage somewhere. One is off a Darmah the other an 860. It will be at least Saturday until I can get to it but I'll look if you're interested. Where are you in the world?

That would be Awesome Bill, Thanks. I've had a response from Giovanni and if he's had a look behind the sofa I'm not sure, but he's only still only offering a 15T. I'm in New Zealand

Yeah, Thanks Kev, I kind of expected that would be the case. No luck with Giovanni. I'll presume he's checked the couch :-D

No competition from me...got mine for the next project already...albeit in April 2008...

Used ones must be out there, many people removed SD covers and starters and put SS covers on, particularly on 77 and 78 kickstarter Darmahs. That's what happened with my project bike that I bought these parts for. I'll get to working on this one eventually!

Good luck...

Kev
