Re: Request for assistance - Dellorto 40mm on Ducati 900 Rep

Thanks Craig, I'll get the compressor and air line out and blow them through. Thanks for the extra tips - I have some detailed Dellorto diagrams of the carbs so will have some homework tonight. Though no carb specialist, I kind of suspect dirt/obstruction/dirty fuel as the bike has been running perf...

Request for assistance - Dellorto 40mm on Ducati 900 Replica

Evening All, I'm running in the rebuilt number 146, Ducati 900 Replica (MHR). Have now completed 550 miles. At around 350 miles a slight fault has started with the carbs. When off the gas the bike will not always return to normal idle speed - 9 times out of 10 she will settle around 2k rpm. Blipping...

Ducati 900 Replica Number 146 takes to the road

Morning All, I think (fingers crossed) I may have managed the technology to upload a picture of Number 146. Bought in October 2011, stripped, restored and refurbished, completed last Wednesday and fired up. Completed 300 miles now - what a joy. Thanks to all for help and advice along the way. I love...

Re: 81 MHR

The lugs are standard from the 900ss frame I think - my 1979 has them on, and of course the first models had no side panels. As far as I know the 900 Replica, then the MHR employed a standard 900ss frame without mods - hence your mate will have some spare bits. I think I would go by the frame number...

I would dearly love to put some pictures on but sorry - have tried pictures two or three times with no luck, I don't use a remote hosting service and when I tried to upload smaller files sizes withi...

Re: Request for assistance - 1979 900 Replica - electrical p

Craig, You are a star, your postings are so helpful - many thanks indeed. And especially for taking the time to provide such a helpful schematic. Regards Stuart PS - I'm still chuffed that second time around - everything (well everything except the main beam indicator light) works - how cool is that...

Re: Request for assistance - 1979 900 Replica - electrical p

OK, problems sorted - I feel a little stupid but it's my first bike restoration and if this is the worst of my errors then that's not too bad. I'll own up so hopefully someone else can learn from my mistake - and also others can have a laugh....and laughing is good for you.... <> <> <> <> So, I spen...

OK, so that has fixed the indicators - many thanks indeed. :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D I've run an earth from the headlamp shell and the indicators are now working fine. But no joy with the lights and the left handlebar switch. :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: I have checked that I have assembld it correctly from ph...

Request for advice - MHR fairing fitting

Afternoon all, Thought I would ask in case there are any past experiences of fitting the single piece fairing on a 1979 Ducati 900 Replica (to become the Mike Hailwood Replica). I've got in on, the alloy brackets are all "loosley" fitted and I have yet to drill the four mounting holes in the nose of...

Request for advice - Ducati 900 Replica - headlamp fairing

Afternoon, Just a brief question, how have people gone about fixing the black headlamp trim into the fairing on a Ducati Mike Hailwood Replica? I'm a bit reluctant to use adhesive on the fibreglass/paint but was wondering about using a little double sided scotch tape? Any better ideas/experience? St...

Request for assistance - 1979 900 Replica - electrical probs

Afternoon All, I'm in the final stages of re-building number 146, a 1979 Ducati 900 Replica. Most all has gone according to plan on the restoration so far. I have now re-installed the wiring loom and have some electrical problems: The handlebar left hand switch doesn't appear to control anything exc...

Re: Question on ignition coils - 1979 Ducati 900 Replica

:vroom: Hi Craig, OK will take your advice - the bike fired and ran perfectly when I bought it in October 2011, so there is every reason (yeah, I'm a issupressible optimist) that it will fire and run after I have rebuilt it..... I had thought best left well alone but wanted to ask those with experie...
