Re: Vee Two Hailwood Replica
The engines that were used in the endurance-racers weren't entirely build by Ducati but by NCR. They got unofficial help from factory-employees and engineers, but because they were a governement-steered factory, they weren't allowed to spend money on such capitalist things as racing. Hence NCR-Ducat...

Re: Vee Two Hailwood Replica
Did VeeTwo recreate the engine, or are those of Ioannoni ? He has been building them for years.
Seeing the tacho going more than once over the 10K, I suspect there is a plainbearing crank in it.

Re: head bracket factory numbers
Not entirely correct, at least about the part number. Verlicchi stamped the frames with partnumber DGM 123 860 SS * *, sent them over to Ducati and Guido at Ducati entered the REAL framenumber between the stars. So in a few countries in Europe only the sixdigit number was used on the documents. ciao...

Re: Star stamp
Found those for a lot less money on several mostra scambio in Italy. Usually from eastern europe sellers. Aftermarket frames are available and could be replicated. I found that the welder at Verlicchi couldn't quite finish a particular weld and had a little fault in it, talking about S and SS frames...

Re: GTL500 Los Angeles
I guess You're Lucky : seems likt it is the second generation engine with the flat head. Previous the cylinders stuck out and fitted into the head (like the singles and v-twins) and were very hard to get gastight. Some suggestions for the saving of the engine : #1 Make a more sensible wiring harness...

Re: Overflowing Carb
Is the seat of the needle tight and the little washerin good condition ? When it isn't tight, fuel can dribble past it and overfill the bowl. I recently read something of a float that wasn't freely moving all the way down to up. So that it got stuck when down and didn't close the fuelinlet. When it ...

Re: Drum Brake sprocket carrier re-assembly
Tom, Seems Harm and his crew discovered that the drawing was wrong but simply added the #28 without adding the bush itself. When You say the bearings have float, do You mean they are loose in the carrier ? If the bush is too short (or the carrier isn't machined correct) maybe that's why the outer be...

Re: Drum Brake sprocket carrier re-assembly
Easy to check : if it slides snugly over #28 AND is a tad longer than the distance between the two bearings in the carrier, it probably IS the "forgotten" distancepiece. Seems Gigi lost a spacer in his book ;) I know I have a few of those in my spare-parts-bin but they could also be some l...

1977 , Must have a low number then.
Pity about the original wheels and discs but now EBC floaters on the FPS wheels. Nice touch
Starter probably dumped because the starterclutch went bad. Nothing that can't be fixed.
Conti 2-1 ?

Re: 860GTS into Darmah
The engine mounting holes are identical on all bevels. The difference is in the gearchange. The roundcase had the box on the right outside, shifting rightside. 860 had the square box on the right and a shaft from the left side to the rightside box, running outside the crankcase. The Darmah had the s...

Re: Ducati 900 SS '82 | Front cylinder exhaust running hot
Last winter after a cold damp night outside near the Waterfront, my Alazzurra didn't start like it used to. When I got it running I drove slowly the 4 km to the highway. While waiting at a trafficlight, I saw that my vertical exhaust was yellow (about the same as those smileys here on the right). Go...

I never found any ally gaskets on any bevel (except for the singles for detuning).
Shimming on twins : getting the compression on both cylinders a bit more into the same range (Guido didn't always check that).
Could be that the bikes were handled in the past by the same mechanic.

Re: Refurbishing Cagiva Elefant 650 rubber intake parts
I've made a repair with some selfvulcanizing tape and reenforcing the filterrubbers so the carbs don't weigh so heavy on the intakes. Next is some monster-tubes and tigwelding. Haven't found any straight swaps yet but maybe the smaller injectionbikes have the correct angle and diameter. Fitting some...

Re: Hi Ducatisti
Sadly those intakerubbers are getting scarce, even in europe. Great bike though and with a few tweeks touring at +100 was possible, at least in the pre-radargundays :-D Same problemen with the 916 : it begins to get comfortable to ride above legal speeds (except in Germany) Welkome on the forum Ciao...
