My error, indeed it has got a 40 spoke rear wheel.
Must've mistaken it for a 350-500 GTL wheel.
Or just brainfade, or my four girls driving my crazy.

It could be a leak in the intake between carb and manifold/head. Didn't You mention cracked rubbers between manifold and head ? Or on some of the newer type manifolds : the rubber ring between manifold and head. The plastic bushing between carb and manifold that is split and doens't seal properly. c...

Just a distancepiece between the bearings.
Grease to keep it relative in place, as is the ring.

As long as the gearbox is working and correctly shimmed, enjoy it.

The rim of the frontwheel looks like a 4777
If those are stainless steel spokes, they could be Original Moto Guzzi.
The 6bolt carriers are made by Grimeca to fit Guzzi and Ducati.
The discs are EBC floaters.
All in all a nice and working upgrade

Inner covers are interchangeable : singles (4 or 5 speed) and paralleltwins. The latter also have the neutralswitchlug. If the 750 didn't have the hardware to fit a neutral switch, all parts of a 860 can be swapped and pronto : a 750 with neutral light that works.

Due to the helicoidal teeth, the connecting gears are pushed outward (and upward), hence only shims #24 on the outside. Since the gear to the crank is a straight-toothed (?) one, there is no need for additional shimming. Don't want to make the shimming harder than it already is :shock: :shock: ciao ...

Usually the beer gets opened when all shims fall on the ground and the drive to continue fades
Just one, otherwise You may develope a drinking problem on top of the Ducati problem
