Hi. Thanks very much for the replies. It would be interesting to find out what is the piston manufacturer should I need new rings in the future. I suppose any bore damage after this it is new liners and pistons. Ouch!
Thanks, Phil.

Cylinder barrel - identification markings
Hi. This is a long shot and I realise I am unlikely to get an explanation, but here goes....
I have removed the barrels of my 1982 MHR and they have both been bored to 88mm. (cast iron liner). On the top face of the aluminium near the liner are some initials or markings of someone I assume has ...

88mm pistons - Part number identification
Hi. I am doing a top end refresh and have found my 1982 MHR has 88mm pistons fitted. The pistons look relatively new (little carbon build up) and there is a number stamped on the crown of the piston, this reads 88-67493\C. Can anyone identify this piston? I cannot see any visible markings on the ...

Re: Refitting cylinder head - valve timing problems
Hi. Thanks for all the helpful comments put forward. I think I have resolved the problem and it was a mistake by myself. When I was removing the front cylinder head I removed the housing at the bottom bevel, thinking that this was necessary to release the chrome drive shaft tube. ( ie didn't realise ...

Re: Refitting cylinder head - valve timing problems
Hi Grant,
Thanks for the reply. I have refitted the piston and barrel for the front cylinder and the piston rings looked in good condition and the bore in good condition too, if a little polished.
I looked at the new book by Ian Fallon today ( Ducati bevel twins - Authenticity and resoration guide ...

Refitting cylinder head - valve timing problems
My issue is with my 1982 MHR. I have noticed burning oil mainly on start up, so have assuming it is oil draining down the valve guides after shutdown.
I have removed the front cylinder head to investigate and found the silicone exhaust valve stem seal loose on the valve stem.(I found that the ...
