Ha! I bought a blue 860GTS back in 1976, It was my first ever new bike off a showroom floor. The showroom in question was HGB Motorcycles in London, often referred to as GBH (Grievous Bodily Harm) motorcycles as a nod to their customer relations policy...
It took me on several trans-continental ...

Re: Newby Introduction
Hi Mike,
It's not without reason that Darmah's were nick named 'Dramas' back in the day so it's probably good that you are 'handy with the spanners'. You will more likely need to be handy with a multimeter and wire strippers as many of their problems were electrical . I have no direct experience as ...

Re: Hi from a Darmah owner in Paris!
Hi Christian,
Very nice looking Darmah, should go well once you have serviced it. This forum has been very quiet of late, I think various social media based Ducati groups have somewhat taken over but it is still a very good source of info. Let us know how you get on.
cheers

Re: another newbie
Dan,
The light throttle hesitation may be solved by playing with the needle height but as I said with the tickover, you need to be realistic with your expectations. If the carbs are in very good/perfect condition then you might tune out the hesitation but I think there is a basic problem that the ...

Re: another newbie
Hi Dan, I've got a standard '75 900ss which I've had since 1977. It has RITA ignition and I probably have the original fitting instructions somewhere if you need help with that. My carbs are also probably the same as yours so I can help with standard jetting, I have Conti's but I doubt the Verlicchi ...

Tyres for a 250 D 'yellow'
The sun has just come out here in central Italy so I have dragged out my newly restored '74 250 D to check it out in preparation for this year's MotoGiro D'Italia (plague permitting). The tyres are barely used, you can still read 'Dunlop' on the tread shoulders) but were on it when I bought it in ...

Scary Scarabs
Anybody know what the thread form is for the Scarab MC banjo fitting? It's the small one (7.5 mm diameter, possibly BSP) underneath. I'm trying to find a suitable banjo bolt, preferably double length but none of the usual suspects has one, so I might have to get one made. I do have one that fits but ...

Re: Advice For Kickshaft Seal Replacement
Happy to confirm your solution! Yes, spring side of seal faces towards the oil source. Another tip, put a suitably sized o ring between the two seals,
i.e inner (old) seal, o ring, new seal. My 900ss has an original, old school flapper valve on the breather and does not leak from the KS shaft, no ...

Re: Advice For Kickshaft Seal Replacement
S.O.P. for this seal is to whack another one in on top of it, I did this on my GTS many years ago and it worked. It is unlikely that the seal is fully home on it's shoulder and gentle tapping with a suitable hollow drift should move it in enough to make room for the new one. If that fails then a ...

Re: Hello Everybody out there
Can't resist re-joining this eighties Ducati nostalgia fest, the London DOC meetings at the Mawson Arms have a lot to answer for. My girlfriend, now wife of 37 years, had temporary digs in Chiswick Maternity Hospital, 50 yards from the pub. Don't ask... Actually do, the hospital was no longer used ...

Paddy,
I can't seem to either receive or send PMs, don't know why, my message just sits in the outbox. Anyway try my email z.zawada (at)* msz.com.pl
* use the usual symbol, this is a feeble anti spam measure.

Re: Lockheed caliper interchangeability
I note that there was no response to your question so here goes, I have no direct experience of fitting AP Lockheed calipers to Ducatis but have worked a lot with Lockheed calipers on various race bikes and will soon be looking for a pair for my '74 greenframe, the original scarabs are nasty. I ...
