Slide Decals

Hi Marty

Back in Oz to dry out after Bruce McLaren Festival in NZ.

Very timely post about decals. I'm about to repaint my standard steel tank and twin seat for the 77 SS. Was mulling over how to do the graphics. The Imola tank on the bike has what look like waterslide stickers - very thin and chip ...

1977 Blinker Bar

Hi Martin

The bar in your picture is different to my Nov 1977 900SS. It has just a straight chrome bar with two tabs welded to it which bolt through the guard. Exactly as shown on the 1977 model in Falloon's book! Quite a bit simpler and lighter than the ones in your picture.

Difficult to tell ...

It's still a nice bike, but....

Interesting discussion. Raises the hoary issue of what's original. This one's clearly a bitsa - and in fairness to the seller is described as such. As long as the buyer pays an appropriate price, he'll have a nice bike to use and enjoy.

One of the best pieces of advice I've heard about buying ...

Hi Marty

Yes, I agree that having a steel tank would be a good idea for resale - will keep an eye out for one but probably not fit it because I like the look of the Imola much better.

There's a good used kick start lever on eBay at the moment in UK, but it's already up to 120pounds - guess that's ...

Hi Marty

Yes - sharp eyes! I like that too. You can't see it in the pic, but the kick starter is off a GT. That's one thing I'd like to change. Gather they're like hen's teeth. Any ideas?

Cheers

Pics of 900SS

Here's a pic of the new toy. Note fairing is reverse of original colour - I like it!

SFC Pics

Ian

I wasn't clear in my post - the SFC's I mentioned are SFC1000's. I assume you're looking at 750SFC's? I wish!

Some of the best pics I've seen of a drum-braked SFC are in the Sept 2008 edition of Old Bike Australia mag. Assume you've seen that. Chris Dowde in Dapto was involved in restoring ...

Hi Vince!

I'm surprised so many Aussies read this!

Thought I'd get on here to get the lowdown on 900SS's. Know nothing about them. You said you had a Pantah with the grumbly gearbox?

The swap for the SFC takes place next weekend - should be interesting..

Was it "our" Marty who replied to my ...

Hello from Australia

Hi. I'm a new Ducati owner (except for the ST4s I owned some years ago). Live in Sydney, Australia.

Now have a 1977 900SS, which came to me as a swap for one of several Laverdas I own. It's not a concours bike, but regularly used and maintained since new. Looking forward to learning more about the ...
